Recently we surveyed members of the MLC footballing community, including alumnae, current students and parents, about the possibility of an alumnae football club associated with MLC.

The survey had high participation levels and, most importantly, was overwhelmingly positive.

We are thrilled to announce that MLC will be joining forces with Old Scotch Football Club to form an inaugural women’s team, the Stars, competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association in 2018!

Old Scotch Football Club has a long and decorated history in the VAFA, and will be able to provide us with excellent facilities, infrastructure and support base as we look to ‘flex our muscles’ in the competition.

MLC has had great success in the GSV AFL competition, fielding three teams in 2017. The College has won the GSV Premiership over six consecutive years, and twice been the Herald Sun Shield State Champions.

We are also delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ryan Duke, the founder of the AFL program at MLC, as the Senior Women’s Coach. He is looking forward to continuing the dominance that MLC has enjoyed in the GSV competition for so many years! We are also delighted that we already have some familiar faces who have signed on: Lily Goss (2017 MLC AFL Captain) and former Captains and current coaches Amy Arundel (2015) and Anna Hayes (2016).

We are currently finalising the details of the official involvement of the College with the team, but will likely include involvement from MLC GSV / Sport staff and the MLC Advancement Department.

Training begins on Monday, 27 November at 6 pm - 7.30 pm, Meares Oval, Scotch College. All are welcome, even those who have not played previously. Join a force to be reckoned with!
