Looking ahead with our 2027 Senior Student Leaders

Looking ahead with our 2027 Senior Student Leaders

October 13th, 2026

As they prepare for take on their new roles at MLC, each member of the Executive shared their hopes for the Class of 2027.

"My hope is that the Class of 2027 utilises one of the greatest strengths we have at MLC, which is the power of each other and our sisterhood."
Elise, Senior Prefect

"That we are not afraid to try and potentially fail, and that we don't give up on our dreams … I don't want any of us to graduate with regrets, like 'why didn't I try that?'"
Ivy, Deputy Senior Prefect

"I hope that each of us leaves MLC with the confidence to embrace our individuality, trust in our abilities and courage to pursue opportunities beyond what feels familiar."
Lily, Deputy Senior Prefect

"I hope that the Class of 2027 can have an exciting, memorable and fulfilling final year at MLC where everyone is made to feel supported in balancing their academic commitments, extracurricular activities, social lives and wellbeing."
Alannah, Student Representative Council Prefect

"My hope for the Class of 2027 is that we will make the most out of our final year and stay just as, if not more, connected and supportive of both each other and the College."
Millie, Head of Houses Prefect

As the 2026 leadership team prepares to hand over, outgoing Senior Prefect Zara reflected on the impact of student leadership and the value of participation.

"Our goal was to encourage students to get involved and show what can be achieved when we show up for one another," Zara said. "Looking back on our events, I felt spirit and culture in what we created, and that's ultimately what we're trying to achieve."

For Elise, building on that culture is central to the year ahead.

"I feel immensely privileged to be appointed 2027 Senior Prefect and look forward to sharing the experience with the MLC community," she said.

"I want the impact of the 2027 Prefects to be felt from Kindle to Year 12. Together, we'll continue to foster the pride, participation, house spirit and strong sense of community that make MLC such a special place."

We congratulate our 2027 Senior Student Leaders and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have across the College community.

Leadership is embedded throughout the MLC experience, with opportunities for students to contribute, collaborate and grow from their earliest years at the College. Whether through Houses, service, sport, music or student advocacy, leadership takes many forms. By encouraging students to lead in ways that reflect their strengths and interests, MLC helps develop the confidence, compassion and courage to make a difference both within the College and beyond.
