A Cherished Tradition
On Saturday 18 May, over 80 Old Collegians from the Class of 1947 to 2022 gathered in the Fitchett Chapel for the much cherished Old Collegians’ Club Chapel Service. The Chapel, bathed in Autumn sunshine, provided a delightful setting.
A special thank you to Lyn Greenall (Quinton 1960) for conducting the service and to Megan McLaughlin (1980) for her inspiring message. Megan’s inclusion of songs from our school days brought back many treasured memories.
Thank you also to the talented choir of Old Collegians, conducted by Denise Groke AO (1963) who led the congregation in Song, including the School Anthem.
It was wonderful to see so many new and familiar faces alike. It was especially heart-warming to see alumnae bring family members or special friends, celebrating the day across generations.
For those who joined us for lunch, it was a privilege to hear Elizabeth Adnams OAM (McLeod Elsternwick 1947–1957; Kew 1958) speak, a dedicated advocate for Girl Guides. We are delighted to share a copy of Elizabeth’s speech with you; it can be downloaded below. From the collection at the Chapel Service a donation of $795 was made to Girl Guides Victoria.
The singing of the school songs – Traditions and Goodbye, Old School, led by Fleur Smith (1988) is always a highlight of the day.
