Being part of the MLC OCC network, I am constantly inspired by the strength, support and spirit of our alumnae – a true testament to the power of women supporting women.
With more than 20,000 alumnae across industries and professions – from early-career professionals to leaders in their fields – we have a ready-made network of talented women who share the common bond of an MLC education. These connections are more than just social; they are professional, empowering and transformative.
The importance of networking has never been clearer, and platforms like LinkedIn have amplified our ability to find, reach out and support one another. Research consistently shows that women who actively support other women are more successful in their careers – and that’s something we see play out within the MLC alumnae community every day. Whether it's through a professional introduction, a mentoring conversation, or simply celebrating each other’s milestones, our network is a powerful asset.
A shining example of this is our OCC Mentoring Program. With more than 100 Old Collegians having participated so far, it has become a cornerstone of how we empower one another across generations. The stories of guidance, support and shared wisdom emerging from this program are a wonderful reflection of MLC values in action.
I also had the pleasure of attending our Past Presidents’ Lunch recently, a truly special gathering. It was heartening to see the legacy of leadership and support passed from one President to the next – each woman building upon the foundation laid by those before her. It was a beautiful reminder that while times may change, our commitment to each other remains steadfast.
Looking ahead, I’m thrilled about two exciting events on our calendar – our Celebration Evening and our ever-popular Golf Day. These events are not just social highlights, they are an opportunity to reconnect, inspire each other and build the strength of our community. I sincerely hope to see many of you there – whether to catch up with old friends, forge new connections or simply enjoy the spirit of togetherness.
Thank you for being part of this dynamic and supportive community. Together, we continue to show that MLC women supporting MLC women can achieve incredible things.
Warm regards,
Alex O’Keefe (1999)
