Chapel Service

A Cherished Tradition

On Saturday, 16 May, we celebrated one of our most cherished and enduring traditions: the annual Old Collegians Chapel Service. It was a wonderful day of connection as alumnae from the Classes of 1944 through to 2013 gathered at the Fitchett Chapel. With over 110 guests in attendance, it was our biggest Chapel Service in some years.

Reverend Debra Saffrey-Collins (Saffrey 1979) led an uplifting and inclusive service, delivering a powerful homily on “women supporting women”, which resonated deeply and reminded us of the strength found in our shared values of respect, responsibility, compassion and courage. The current Faith and Inclusion Prefect, Olivia Mac, gave a thoughtful reading; and Year 8 student Evanna Sipos-Ori, delighted the congregation with her exceptional piano performance. Rounding out the service was a performance from a choir of Old Collegians.

Fellowship continued after the service with a delicious lunch and the opportunity to reconnect. Helen Walker OAM (Price 1980) shared her remarkable work with the women’s Prison Network. Collection taken during the service raised over $1400 for Prison Network.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, storytelling and joyful renditions of our school songs. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day so special. We look forward to gathering once again next year for what promises to be another wonderful celebration of MLC community and connection.
