OCC Mentoring Program

Mentoring — Connecting our Old Collegians

Our 2025 Mentoring program kicked off in March with participants meeting in the Nicholas Learning Centre for their first networking event. There was a fun speed-dating activity that created an air of conversation with everyone introducing themselves and finding common themes, often relating to school memories.

Our dedicated facilitator and Old Collegian, Angela Andrews (1991) worked through everyone’s preferences and matched each of the alumna with a mentor – from this point on they would be working exclusively together as a mentoring pair.  Over the past few months, these pairs have been meeting regularly, bridging generational gaps/learning from each other, and developing close and collaborative working relationships.

Our Old Collegians have lived incredibly fulfilling lives and among the group we have a wide array of experiences – researchers and writers, midwifes and marketing managers, film-makers and financiers. One of our participants moved to New York for an exciting new job in advertising, another climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, while another spent time saving the lives of endangered turtles on a remote tropical island.

Throughout the year, our participants meet regularly with their mentoring partner, exploring the opportunity to reflect on how their past has shaped their lives, and to discuss new and previously unimagined possibilities for their future.

Both mentors and mentees are effusive in their enthusiasm for the program and how fulfilling the experience can be.

“The mentoring program is a great way to connect to the MLC community, learn from other accomplished women, and share experiences. It's personally and professionally fulfilling, and a pleasure to be part of.” Juhee Tulshyan
