Introducing MLC’s 2026 Senior Student Leaders

Introducing MLC’s 2026 Senior Student Leaders

November 26th, 2025

Meet our 2026 Senior Student Leaders and Executive Team

Congratulations to our newly appointed Senior Student Leaders for 2026. In Term 4, forty Year 11 students were inducted into their new leadership roles. These students will play a key role in shaping student life at MLC, leading with purpose, empathy, and a strong sense of community.

Of this group, we are also pleased to introduce the 2026 Senior Student Leadership Executive team, which comprises the Senior Prefect, two Deputy Senior Prefects, the Head of Houses Prefect, and the Student Council Representative Prefect. Along with the other student leaders, they will play a vital role in shaping the year ahead and fostering connection across the College.

  • Zara – Senior Prefect
  • Lulu – Deputy Senior Prefect
  • Josephine – Deputy Senior Prefect
  • Lana – Head of Houses Prefect
  • Emily – Student Representative Council Prefect

We asked each Executive member what their hope for the Class of 2026 is and how they will support their fellow students:

“My hope is for everyone to feel connected, valid and heard by their peers and wider community. I want to be there to support my peers on days where they may not feel like the best version of themselves, and model that behaviour to the whole cohort. I believe we are already very supportive as a year group, but I want to ensure that support echoes through to the younger year levels as well.” - Zara

“My hope is that each individual achieves their desired end of year result but also experiences fun and laughter day-to-day. Year 12 will be a busy period but hopefully it will be equally rewarding. I want to make sure that my peers feel well supported. To accomplish this, fostering a supportive environment is critical and always being there to listen and voice my peers concerns is crucial.” - Lulu

“I hope the Class of 2026 is a group that positively gives everything our best try and enthusiastically participates in all of our House and school events. I hope we'll lean on each other for support during our final year and uplift one another.” - Josephine

“My hope for the Class of 2026 is that their last year at MLC is an incredible one - a year just as incredible as they are, filled with fun, warmth and accomplishment. I believe that I can help them in this journey by improving pre-existing House events and creating new ones to be more spectacular, increasing participation and through that creating a final year of school that is not just underpinned by superb academic performances but also by connection to one's peers and teachers and overall school community.” - Lana

“The Class of 2026 is a diverse and multi-talented community who will be the pioneers and leaders of the future, and my hope for our 2026 is that we succeed both as individuals with personal goals, and as a supportive, tightly-knit collective with an overarching aim of creating unforgettable memories. I hope to be someone to reach out to, not only to discuss leadership or any ideas, but also to provide support, encouragement and advice wherever I can.” - Emily

At MLC, leadership is nurtured from the very beginning of a student’s journey. In Junior School, the Year 6 leadership program gives students the opportunity to take on captain and collaborative team roles that align with their interests and passions. With mentoring from teachers, students learn to communicate confidently, work collaboratively and contribute meaningfully to their school community.

Leadership opportunities continue in Year 7 and expand throughout the Middle and Senior Years. Students can apply for a wide range of portfolios based on their strengths and interests, including House-based leadership, Art and Design, Drama, Music, Social Service, Sport, Wellbeing, Boarding, and Reconciliation.

At MLC, we believe that leadership is about more than holding a position, it’s about making a difference. By nurturing leadership from a young age, we empower students to advocate for themselves and others, pursue their ambitions with confidence, and contribute meaningfully to their communities - now and into the future.
