Why MLC > Curriculum & Learning > Dramatic Arts

The Dramatic Arts department at MLC offers a rich and exciting range of subjects and co-curricular experiences that foster both personal growth, and also performance and stagecraft skills.

Students study Drama in a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student-centred learning, encourages them to take risks and to meet new challenges.

Our commitment to the pursuit of excellence is reflected in students’ achievements at MLC and beyond. A number of students have secured places at world-renowned acting training academies, both nationally and internationally. Our students’ achievements have also been recognised through the Victorian Premier’s VCE Awards and the prestigious VCE Season of Excellence Top Class showcase for Victoria’s top performing VCE Drama and VCE Theatre Studies students.
Drama is offered as a core subject in Years 7 to 9, and an exciting range of electives are available for Years 8 to 10. For students in Years 11 and 12, students are able to study VCE Drama.
While group interaction dominates in the classroom, there is a strong emphasis on students' individual needs, and the development of confidence and self-awareness through participation.
