MLC’s practical and relevant Science program has been designed to ensure that students are energised and enthused to learn more about their environment and the processes that occur within it. Issues associated with developments in science and technology are actively discussed and students relish the chance to engage with the scientific issues of the day. Science 'literacy' is a key goal for curriculum in Junior Secondary School and into Middle School.
Science is a compulsory study through to Year 10, incorporating Biology, Physics and Chemistry, and leads to the full range of VCE and IB Science options in Senior School, which enjoy a large uptake amongst students. In 2017, 89% of our Year 12 students did at least one Science subject, with some even completing three!
2010 saw the opening of MLC’s innovative and sustainably-designed Science Precinct to further enhance learning and discovery.
Specialised curriculum areas include:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Psychology
