We are delighted to welcome Michelle Rogerson and Yasu Yoshida, chefs and owners of the renowned Japanese restaurant Ocha, when they return to MLC as Guest Chefs at the Terrace Restaurant on Thursday, 20 April 2017.

The biannual special Guest Chef lunches are a fabulous opportunity for MLC’s VCE VET Hospitality students to not only work with Melbourne’s leading chefs, but to actually produce and serve their famous dishes to clientele in the restaurant.

Both have featured as Guest Chefs in previous years, with students finding the learning experience incredibly valuable, as well as being very well-received from the dining guests.

“We are very fortunate to welcome Michelle and Yasu back,” says Ms Vicky Manos, one of the students’ VCE VET Hospitality teachers. “They both gives our students access to their vast knowledge and skills, particularly around Japanese cuisine, and also keeps them up to date with current industry practices. Michelle and Yasu are outstanding role models for them as a successful business owners and chefs, but they are both humble and so generous with their time.”

The lunch consists of a five-course set menu, with dishes including ‘inside out’ sushi rolls and teriyaki chicken, plated and served in a similar manner as at the well-known Ocha, located in Hawthorn. These lunches are popular, and bookings are essential.

The Terrace Restaurant is MLC’s purpose-built, full-service commercial facility for VCE VET Hospitality students to hone their skills both front of house and back of house under full supervision, whilst diners can enjoy on-trend, industry-standard dishes and beverages. Open to the public, the restaurant hosts high teas fortnightly, with lunch service on alternating weeks (during term time only). As students graduate from the program with an industry Certificate in Food and Beverage or Commercial Cookery, it is a great opportunity to support aspiring culinary students whilst enjoying a restaurant-standard meal at an affordable price.

Unfortunately we cannot cater for specific dietary requirements on that day. Bookings are essential and can be made online at http://www.trybooking.com/ODCX
