Every member of the MLC community has the opportunity, all year round, to make a contribution to vital projects that will have an immediate and tangible impact on our students and staff. We invite you to join with us and others in the College community by supporting one of MLC’s tax-deductible funds below. Every gift, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated – thank you for your kind support.
Giving Day 2021
Thank you to all in our MLC community who so generously supported our first 24 hour online Giving Day on 1 June. We raised a total of $351,756
, well in excess of our original goal of $250,000, for Principal’s Means-Tested Scholarships
. It is wonderful to know that our College community strongly believes in creating opportunities for more students to be able to access an MLC education, as evidenced by the many positive comments and testimonials left by donors as they made their gifts.
Our Giving Day was conducted in conjunction with Charidy, and donors enjoyed seeing their gifts instantly doubled online by our matching donors, and watching the Giving Day total climb towards, and then past, our goal. You can revisit the MLC Giving Day page here.
A total of 547 donors supported the 2021 Giving Day. Current parents and Old Collegians were the two largest groups represented. New features of the Giving Day included current students giving online with their parents (with 29 students doing so) and all donors having the choice to give with one of the four School teams - engendering a sense of friendly competition. It was great to see our current and past MLC staff members participating as well.

Major Gift Opportunities
A major gift is a substantial contribution that makes a transformative impact on the lives of our students.
Since our establishment, numerous members of our community have generously made significant gifts to support our students, contributing to buildings, scholarships, resources and other programs.
Benefactors may choose to support Scholarships, to enable girls from a diverse range of backgrounds (Melbourne, rural and regional areas, and Indigenous communities) to be able to come to and access an MLC education. Scholarships may be named for a limited-term or in perpetuity. If there are other areas that you would like to support, we would be very happy to discuss your ideas with you.
All donations may be made a via a single gift or pledge of up to five years, and are tax deductible.
To discuss all major gift opportunities please contact Sue Felton, Director of Advancement on +61 3 9274 6407.
Broadening your support
Philanthropy has underpinned the College and its first-class educational offering to its students since its establishment in 1882.
Evidence of the generosity of our donors can be seen everywhere. If you were to walk around the Kew Campus today, you would see the Junior School students thriving in their learning environment, and our Year 7 and 8 students enjoying new opportunities for dynamic multi-disciplinary learning in the recently opened Nicholas Learning Centre.
Philanthropy has even extended the borders of our campus to MLC Banksia located on the Gippsland Lakes and Marshmead located on Lake Mallacoota in the Croajilong National Park. Both of these provide unique experiential learning opportunities – Marshmead was ahead of its time as one of the nation’s first environmentally focused, hands-on education setting. Inside our library, philanthropy has enriched our collection of digital and printed resources. Support of scholarships has broken down barriers for girls in our community who otherwise would not be able to experience an MLC education.
Thanking our Donors
The MLC Foundation recognizes the generous support of our community with special membership levels which can be achieved cumulatively over 5 years.
