What a year it has been! As my first year as President of the MLC Old Collegians' Club, I can honestly say it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I've learned so much, and together with our committee, we have achieved so much. It’s been great to watch our events grow in both size and spirit. The increasing attendance and the sense of community we’ve cultivated have been a highlight of the year.
A particularly special moment was welcoming the Class of 2024 into the MLCOCC community. I had the honour of speaking at their Valedictory Night, marking the end of one chapter of their MLC journey and the beginning of their lifelong connection with the OCC. A copy of the speech can be read here.
To make sure they knew we were here to support them, we hosted a coffee cart at their Graduation Breakfast, which was a fantastic way to connect. This event was especially meaningful as it included MLC Old Collegian Ellie MacLennan (Class of 2017) and her coffee van, 'Here or There'. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our newest alumnae in style.
Looking ahead, I wish all the 2024 graduates the very best of luck with their results. I know that Julia Shea will be sharing both the VCE and IB results with the OCC community when they are released this month, and we look forward to celebrating their successes together.
This year also saw the beginning of the Class of 2023's journey with the MLC OCC, as they came together for their first-year reunion. On the other end of the spectrum, it was a true privilege to be part of the Silver Circle reunion. It was incredibly heart-warming to see so many MLC Old Collegians still deeply connected and supporting each other. I can only hope that, when my own time comes for a Silver Circle reunion, I’ll still be enjoying the company of the same wonderful friends I have today.
As we head into the summer break, I hope everyone has a chance to relax and recharge. I’m excited for what the next year holds for the MLCOCC and look forward to an event-filled calendar that will bring both familiar and new faces together. Remember, you are all an important part of our MLC community, and we can’t wait to see you at our upcoming events!
