Involvement, empowerment, discovery and independence are key themes in Middle School at Methodist Ladies' College (Years 9 and 10).
We encourage students to explore their potential, try new things, take responsibility for their learning and care for themselves and each other. Year 9 students experience MLC Marshmead or Melbourne Term* while Year 10 students begin to think about careers and their Senior School program.
Choice is a key feature of MLC’s Middle School curriculum. From the Creative and Performing Arts, English and Literature, Health and Physical Education, and Languages, to Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, and Information Technology, students explore their interests, develop as learners and prepare for VCE, IB or VCE VET. There are also lots of amazing co-curricular activities including Drama Club, Voice and Speech, music performance groups and more than 30 sports! Students may also be involved in House activities, the Student Representative Council and our innovative Contribution to the Community program, where they confront social issues through practical community situations.
* The Melbourne Term is undertaken by students who elect not to go to MLC Marshmead. The Melbourne Term program gives students the opportunity to access, investigate and contribute to the wider Melbourne environment and to interact with a diverse range of people within the community. A key focus of the program is the development of independence, both in approaches to academic work and the exploration of Melbourne and beyond.
