The Executive Management Team at Methodist Ladies' College is known as the College Management Team (CMT). This team comprises all the key representatives from across the College. CMT guide the operational requirements of the College under the direction of the Principal, Diana Vernon.
Diana Vernon commenced as MLC’s eighth Principal in 2014. Previously Diana was Headmistress for seven years at City of London School for Girls and prior to that Headmistress for seven years at Woldingham School, Surrey.
On leaving University Diana joined an academic publishing house, before spending seven years in the field of corporate public relations working both in-house and for agencies. Passionate about education and the opportunities and support it provided for the next generation, Diana became a Governor of a local, state sector, secondary school in London. It was this involvement which led her to retrain and pursue a teaching career. She trained as a Biology teacher at King's College, London University and has taught Biology from ages 11 – 18 and Business Studies from 16 – 18.
Diana has a Bachelor of Arts, Anthropology from St Mary’s College, University of Durham and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from King’s College, University of London. While in her previous headship roles, Diana was Vice-Chairperson of the Independent Schools Education Board from 2006 – 2014, Chair of the London Schools' Fee Assistance Consortium, designed to encourage broadening access to top independent schools across London, and Chair of the East London Schools Consortium – a group of independent and state-sector girls' school heads who work together to identify additional opportunities for students across their schools.
Margaret was appointed Senior Vice Principal of MLC in 2014. Margaret is in her ninth year at MLC having held the positions of Vice Principal from October 2012, Head of Junior Secondary School (Years 7 and 8) from 2006 – 2008 and Head of Middle School from 2009 until September 2012. In her time at MLC, Margaret has chaired the College Wellbeing Committee and in her role as Head of Middle School had responsibility for the MLC Marshmead remote site. Margaret has had extensive educational experience from Prep to VCE levels in previous settings. Margaret is motivated by opportunities to work with young people and is passionate about providing outstanding learning opportunities for MLC's diverse community, always keeping the needs of each individual student in mind.
Mark was appointed Vice Principal of MLC in December 2014 and is in his thirteenth year at MLC. His initial role at the College focused on the design and delivery of Education Outdoors programs following the purchase of the MLC Banksia site in 2002. After the redevelopment of this site from 2004-2006, Mark took on the role of Director of Remote Sites which included responsibility for both MLC Banksia and Marshmead sites. From 2008-2012, Mark oversaw the redevelopment of the MLC Marshmead site.
In his time at MLC, Mark has worked closely with many students and their families in preparation for both Banksia and Marshmead programs. He has also-chaired The Green Team (Sustainability & Environment), back filled short term CMT roles and in 2014 was appointed Director of Remote Sites and Sport Programs.
Mark has had extensive educational experience from Year 7 to VCE levels and is committed to providing quality educational opportunities for all students, valuing each students’ individuality and ensuring that the environments that he is responsible for enable individual student talents to be nurtured.
