From before school training and inter-house round robins, to inter-school, state and national-level competitions, MLC’s sport program offers something for every student.
Regardless of experience or skill, students have the opportunity to participate and challenge themselves to achieve their personal best.
In support of a balanced education, MLC provides opportunities across a broad range of sports so that all students can engage in physical activity that appeals to them and suits their individual attributes.
All MLC students are allocated to a House, which provides an important connection for students in different year levels. Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of House sports at lunchtimes. Activities are open to students in Years 7 – 12 and provide an excellent opportunity for students to make new friends both within their year level and across the College. Annual inter-house carnivals are held throughout the year in swimming, diving, athletics, gymnastics, cheerleading and cross-country.

MLC is a member of Girls’ Sport Victoria (GSV), an independent girls’ school sporting association of 24 schools. GSV offers Years 7 – 12 students the opportunity to play against other schools across 20 different sports in an all-girl environment. Each sport is played over a term, with finals occurring at the end of the home and away matches.
The major sports also have warm-up meets, preliminary, championship and finals carnivals. GSV provides a range of competitive and non-competitive sporting experiences and MLC encourages every student to participate.
In Junior School, students in Years 4 – 6 are able to participate in inter-school sport via weekly training and inter-school matches, and also via MLC’s involvement in School Sport Victoria (SSV) district competitions.
