MLC is committed to preparing our students to be the best that they can be, providing them with a breadth and depth of choice, without feeling constrained by gender stereotypes in their selections.
MLC has over 136 years' experience successfully educating girls to be the citizens the world needs. MLC teaching and educational support staff understand girls and the particular way they learn, develop and communicate. Our programs have been specifically designed to help girls achieve their best, and their effectiveness is borne out in our consistently outstanding academic results as well as our students' achievements and successes in all areas of school life.
The benefits of a single sex girls’ education are well documented. “Research suggests that girls who attend single-sex schools are more confident about themselves as learners in subjects such as mathematics and physics, than in coeducational schools. In the absence of boys, the girls also feel less constrained in engaging in classroom discussions.” (source: The Conversation)
Not only do MLC’s students consistently outperform expectations in all areas of school life, all our leaders are girls and young women.
In preparing our students for the world they will enter after school, MLC’s structures and programs are exceptional in breadth and depth. MLC also provides opportunities for students to engage in meaningful programs with students from other schools – whether gifted and talented programs across Boroondara and Australia, wellbeing programs with local boys’ schools, co-curricular drama and debating opportunities with local boys’ schools. This range of opportunities ensures MLC can provide the most important life lesson for our students – learning to make good choices.
At MLC we believe that citizens the world needs are individuals who demonstrate creativity, cultural awareness, critical thinking and who collaborate to find shared solutions to complex problems.
