Two key features of MLC Mathematics are choice and flexibility.

In Junior Secondary School, students take courses designed specifically to cater for all abilities – acknowledging the wide range of differences that exist between students at this level. Students have access to support and enrichment activities throughout JSS Mathematics and there is an advanced group for more able Year 8 students.

In Middle School the choices continue, with each student able to select the level of mathematics best suited to her ability. Whilst we encourage all students to undertake the most difficult course possible, we also provide classes for those students who find the abstract nature of the subject a little challenging. The advanced course continues in Middle School and students can undertake Mathematical Methods Units 1 and 2 in Year 10 if they are capable.

In Senior School Mathematics, we offer the full range of maths subjects for VCE and IB, as well as three implementations of General Mathematics Units 1/2. We encourage all students to study mathematics in Year 11 and 12 and support our students in their choice. Teachers are always happy to assist students outside of class time and to work with them to achieve success.

The integration of technology is a high priority and students become experienced at using a range of tools including Computer software and Graphics Calculators.

Mathematics at MLC is a world of choices and opportunities!
