Home Economics and Hospitality – the spice of life!
Pack your taste buds and explore a whole world of food without leaving MLC!
The Home Economics Department and School of Hospitality
offer an opportunity to enjoy food and to learn about its
significance in a global context. In MLC’s unique Miele Culinary Centre, students can prepare modern recipes designed for individual tastes and needs. They learn to prepare a meal for
family at home or cook for a group at Marshmead.
In a supportive environment, students explore the delights, frustrations, choices and challenges facing young people today. They are encouraged to take time to consider their relationships and the messages sent to them about independence, sexuality and social and mental health in adolescence.
Home Economics is offered as a core subject in Years 8 and 9 and an exciting range of electives is available for students in Years 8 to 10.
In Years 11 and 12, VCE Health and Human Development, VCE Food and Technology or VET Certificate II in Hospitality are offered.
Home Economics and Hospitality students learn in a dynamic and challenging environment that has the potential to shape their wellbeing, health and career.
