In a world marked by uncertainty, History provides students with insight into their own attitudes, values and understanding of why life in suburban Melbourne is not the universal norm.
From JSS, where students discover what it was like to be an ordinary person in the time of the pharaohs, to MS where students explore the development of multi-cultural Australia and the significance of the ‘Middle Kingdom’, Samurai Japan and the Cold War, all History students learn how to find and interpret evidence, how to understand other ways of life and how to express and justify their opinions.
In Senior School, History is offered through VCE and IB. Students can learn their way around the streets of Renaissance Venice and Florence, decide whether revolutions always devour their own children, or explore the highs and lows of the Twentieth Century. History is the fascinating business of prying, reasoning and arguing.
