MLC offers a large number of Academic and Music/Academic Scholarships for students with special talents, awarding a range of full, three-quarter and half scholarships.
Year 7 scholarships are tenable for six years. Academic Scholarships are available for students entering Year 9 and are tenable for four years. The Year 11 scholarships are tenable for two years.
Music/Academic Scholarships cover remission of half or full academic tuition at MLC and full music tuition on the student's chief instrument. Only applicants who have nominated MLC as first preference will be invited to attend an audition.
To confirm acceptance of the Scholarship, payment of a non-refundable enrolment fee of $1250 (siblings pay $1000) is required.
Scholarships at MLC are awarded on the basis of the scholarship exam results, school reports and an interview. The final decision is made after all factors, including the interview, have been considered. An invitation to an interview does not necessarily mean that the candidate is offered a scholarship.
- Scholarships do not cover:
(i) the consolidated charge which is 10% of the quoted tuition fee
(ii) boarding fees (except Indigenous Scholarships)
(iii) the registration fee for enrolment
(iv) the enrolment fee
(v) MLC Banksia, Marshmead and International Baccalaureate fees
- MLC reserves the right to refrain from awarding scholarships if applicants do not meet the required standard.
- Scholarships are not available to full fee paying overseas students.
- Holders of a Music/Academic Scholarship are required to participate in school music activities and present as a soloist at the auditions for the Music Recitals.
- No student can hold more than one MLC scholarship and on receipt of a scholarship any other allowances are cancelled.
